Where we stayed: Sunset RV Park

How long we're staying: 1 month, 2 days total

Sunset Park (right across the street from Sunset RV Park)

Hay Springs is a small town of about 500 people in the panhandle of Nebraska. Paige's mom is from here, which is why we're here. Also, this RV park is dirt cheap - $250/month or $25/night - and we needed some relief after dropping $4,000 on making our Jeep towable.

The RV park is right next to the actual town park and swimming pool, which makes for some super awesome views out the front window.

Place(s) We Ate

The burgers at the Silver Dollar are amazing, with or without a bun ;P

Ok, so there's only one gig in town: The Silver Dollar. It's a bar, so it's got bar food. No gluten-free options here for Paige, other than fries. But their burgers are pretty good, and so are their mozzarella sticks.

Unique Places to Shop

Main street of Hay Springs only has a handful of storefronts. Besides the Silver Dollar, there's a hair salon, a library, a mortuary, a clinic (not open anymore), two banks (one is closed), and a few other places. One of them is Christi's Creative Scents - Paige's mom's candle business! We have one of these adorable warmers in our RV now.

Beyond candles, Christi does have a selection of other gift items! Lots of Nebraska- and Husker-themed stuff, greeting cards, and some home decor items.

Bottom Line

This was a super neat place to relax for a month, right after rushing and spending crazy amounts of money on getting the RV ready-to-go. Since Paige's mom is here, I'm sure we'll be here once a year or so.
